Emerging Solicitor Scholarship – Warwickshire JLD

Law Training Centre is working in collaboration with the Warwickshire Junior Lawyers Division (WJLD) to support aspiring lawyers from in and around the Warwickshire area to qualify and develop their careers in law.

As part of our partnership, Law Training Centre is pleased to be able to offer our Warwickshire Emerging Solicitor Scholarship to members of the WJLD who are looking to start their journeys to qualifying as a Solicitor of England & Wales via the SQE pathway.

This is a full scholarship for our SQE1 Prep Exam-Track course starting in June 2025, where you will receive access to all of our SQE1 materials and unlimited tutor support from our team of experts.

Scholarship details

Our Warwickshire Emerging Solicitor Scholarship aims to grant one aspiring solicitor with a fully funded SQE1 Prep Exam-Track course (£2,700), helping you on your way to qualifying successfully.

Applications must be submitted to [email protected] by 30 April 2025. All applications must be submitted using the application form provided below. No other formats will be accepted.

The recipient of the scholarship will be notified on 9 May 2025 and will be required to accept the scholarship and enrol by 23 May 2025, or the scholarship will be offered to another applicant. Course access will then commence on 12 June 2025, allowing you the opportunity to sit your exams in January 2026.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a current member of the Warwickshire Junior Lawyers Division
  • Have either
    • a UK Law degree (or equivalent) within the last 3 years obtaining a 2:1 or above OR
    • have extensive practice experience together with a degree or other Level 6 qualification*
  • Be able to commit to 15-20 hours of study per week starting from 12 June 2025
  • Be committed to completing the SQE1 assessment in the January 2026 exam sitting
  • Have the ability to fund the SQE1 assessment (assessments are booked with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), please see SRA website for fees here)

*Please note that if your application is shortlisted you will be asked to provide documentation to support your academic or practice experience (as applicable).

How will the scholarship applications be assessed?

Applications will be reviewed and assessed by our Scholarships Team based on a range of criteria, including:

  • Academic achievement
  • Personal circumstances requiring financial support
  • Passion and commitment to qualifying as a Solicitor with the SQE
  • How you will fit your studies into your every day life to achieve success
  • Commercial awareness, experience and connectivity within the legal community
  • Supporting social mobility

Applicants are required to download the application form below and complete a short written statement about why you believe you should receive the scholarship. This should be returned to us at [email protected].

The closing date for applications is 5pm, 30 April 2025.

The successful candidate will then be contacted by the Law Training Centre team on 9 May 2025, and will need to accept and enrol by 23 May. Failure to accept the scholarship and successfully enrol will result in the scholarship being offered to another applicant.
